Hi my name is Harry Basra; I am 24 years old and have been with Miller for 18 months. I work for the North West Region in the Homes Division.

Before joining Miller and commencing university I completed a four year apprenticeship for Ford Motor Company as an Electro-Mechanical Engineer. I have an Honors Degree from Liverpool University in Integrated Engineering with Industrial Management.

I applied for a job in the construction industry because of the rewards and opportunities available for self driven, hard working individuals. I applied to Miller because they are a forward thinking company who like to invest in their employees. They also stated the responsibility that you get and the rewards and opportunities available for successful candidates.

The Company is looking for ambitious graduates with the drive to succeed. They are also seeking creative, forward thinking people who would like to work as part of a successful team.

I am currently an Assistant Site Manager and this involves me running the site and as part of this I have to ensure that health and safety is adhered to, that we build on time and to budget and that we also maintain our highest standard of quality. The best thing about my job is variation; I also enjoy the challenges involved in running a project and also the satisfaction on a customers face when you supply to them a high quality product. I am currently working on a luxury apartment scheme in the centre of Preston; this involves careful planning as there is a lot of congestion in the city centre. The successes I have had since starting at Miller is that I have now been selected to work on a NHBC Regional Award winning site by my Production Director.

In the short term I hope to become a Site Manager, I also hope to achieve Chartered status within the next 2 years.

Everyday after work I either go to the gym or I enjoy going jogging. I also am a member and play cricket for my local cricket team.
