Miller Construction selected for Bristol's new £25M civil justice centre

06.11.08  Company:  Miller Construction

Miller Construction has been awarded the contract to build Bristol’s new £25 million Civil Justice Centre.

This exciting project will see the creation of modern court facilities and administration offices over six storeys. The building, which will be finished with cladding in three different types of stonework, will include a piazza area as well as basement parking facilities.

Due to the nature of the end use of the building which will house a number of courtrooms, it is also essential that, in addition the usual first class standard of internal finishes and insulation that Miller delivers, the acoustics of the building are of the highest standard.

Kevin Dickson, South West Area Director, Miller Construction, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed the main contractor for this project, which is both exciting and challenging.

“The new Civil Justice Centre will be built to a very high specification and will contribute to the regeneration of the Redcliff area of Bristol. The site is in the city centre and access is restricted but this has resulted in us coming up with innovative solutions to ensure that the build is carried out with minimum disruption to our site neighbours.”

Enabling works have been carried out on the site, and Miller Construction has completed the foundations and is now progressing with structural frame.

The work is scheduled for completion in spring 2010.
