Motherwell College Employability

Miller Construction played host to over 80 secondary school pupils at the site of the new Motherwell College following a unique partnership set up between Miller and Motherwell College.

The partnership enabled pupils to have an insight into careers within the construction industry and tour the site of the new campus as it was being built.

Pupils from St Aidan’s High School; Airdrie Academy, Clyde Valley High and Dalziel High were invited to attend a series of open days which ran over a 10 week period.  The format of the day included an overview of the construction industry and the careers available; health and safety briefing; how a project develops from conception to completion and culminated in a tour of the site.

A number of the pupils were participating in ‘Skills for Work Construction’ qualifications which the College runs in local schools and Miller was able to offer them practical experience of a site which proved to be very beneficial for their studies.
