Miller Constructions Magnificent Seven at CCS Awards

25.05.10  Company:  Miller Construction

Miller Construction (UK) Ltd has collected seven accolades at the national Considerate Constructor Scheme (CCS) awards.

Miller Construction, an Associate Member of the Scheme, was presented with two gold; two silver and three bronze awards.  7,600 sites were audited by the scheme and only the top scoring 7.5% (580) were eligible to receive an award.  In addition, the site team from Union Square, Aberdeen collected a coveted trophy as Runner Up to the Most Considerate Site, ranking it in the top 0.2% of all construction sites in the UK registered with the scheme.

Considerate Constructors is a national initiative which aims to improve the image of the construction industry by encouraging best practice beyond statutory requirements, and only the very best performing sites are recognised annually at the awards.

Robin Mackie, Chief Executive, Miller Construction, said: “It is a great honour for our sites to be recognised in this way.  To receive seven awards is a great achievement and illustrates the quality of sites that we have throughout the UK.  Part of our every day practise is to score consistently above the national average on all of our sites.

“CCS is an important body to help change the perceptions of the construction industry and the presentation of these awards illustrates the professionalism of our site teams and the quality of work that we undertake every day for our clients.”

Miller received Gold Awards for Union Square, Aberdeen – the second Gold award for this site - and for its project at One Waterloo Street, Glasgow.  Silver Awards were presented for the sites at University of Brighton and North Leamington School, and the sites at Whitburn Church of England School, East Durham College and Motherwell College received Bronze.

Sites which sign up to the Considerate Constructors Scheme, which is a completely independent measure, are monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice which covers areas including consideration for the public, environmental impact, cleanliness, being a good neighbour, as well as being responsible, respectful, safe and accountable.  Sites are audited throughout the length of the project and improvements are sought throughout the period of the build process.
