29.09.09  Company:  Miller Developments

Miller Cromdale, the joint venture between Miller Developments and Cromdale Ltd, has completed Aberdeen’s largest office letting this year at its Freedom House scheme in Old Ford Road.

Aker Offshore Partner Ltd, a division of Aker Solutions, a leading global contractor for the energy sector, has agreed a ten-year deal for the 32,000 sq ft four-storey office complex and will relocate from smaller offices throughout the city during the next two months.

Martin Callan of Miller Cromdale said: “This deal is testament to our firmly held principles that high quality accommodation will always secure the best occupiers at good rents and this has proven so even in today’s recessionary business climate. This is our fourth project in the harbour area which we believe has enormous potential as a growing business location.”

Offshore Partner managing director Rod Buchan said: “This move is a long-term investment for Aker Solutions and underlines our commitment to Aberdeen and our clients in the city. The new office complex will be a key base for us in terms of enhancing our level of service to clients and in achieving our growth objectives.”

Freedom House boasts the highest standards in environmental design and has been awarded ‘very good’ status in the BREEAM code for sustainable buildings. Freedom House comes complete with movement sensor lighting among a series of features which will significantly reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Young and Company advised Miller Cromdale, with Ryden representing Aker Solutions. Aker Solutions will continue to have its city headquarters at Kirkhill Industrial Estate in Dyce.

Miller Cromdale is now marketing the adjacent Pilgrim House office building which has consent for 20,000 sq ft of grade A space.
